I met George 17 years ago. He helped me improve and made me see pool not simply as a game, but as a way of life. I am glad our paths crossed and that he helped me. I am certain that, with his knowledge, he can help anyone who wants to improve their game.
My work with George was not limited to technique. We spent many hours at the table, but we also worked on my mentality, preparation and approach to competition. That work helped me compete with greater confidence and a clearer mind, and it became an important part of my development.
Eight years ago, while I was competing in the D Division, I had a six-hour training session with George in Patras. During that session I learned important elements of technique that I still apply today. What certainly sets him apart is the methodology he follows when setting goals around each athlete’s individual needs. Today, eight years later, I compete in the A Division. If there is one thing that anyone who chooses to train with him will retain, it is, without any doubt, how to become their own coach. I recommend him without reservation!
Working with Coach Sarmas was a blessing. It is difficult to trust someone with your game when you fear becoming confused mentally, psychologically or technically. You must be very careful whom you trust. With Coach Sarmas, it did not take much effort; he won me over from the very first lesson. The truth with which he teaches meets your own truth, and that wins you over. He makes you enjoy the game and the learning process as if you were a teenager again; in essence, he gives you life. When I met him, I was No. 2 in Cyprus. We worked together for three months and I moved up several levels. The very next year, I became No. 1 in Cyprus. He also changed the way I saw the game: my perception, planning, observation and technique. It was a wonderful journey. It is a pity he did not stay in Cyprus. Thank you, Coach.
